May 2025 Update

Hi Cambridge Shedders

For those of you who haven’t joined the MenzShed Cambridge Facebook page (if you can please talk to your children/Grandchildren to get yourself on our FB page it’s a great way to stay current with what we are doing) here’s a quick update on a couple of things most of them Eric Hill has posted on the FB page.

I have attached 2 x photos for your info…..4 x bookcases that we have made in the Shed for Karapiro Primary School and are in the throes of being painted up ready for delivery.

The other is a photo of a (timber) child’s educational dice that has been made in the Shed…we have plenty of these cut and sanded ready to mark-up. What we need now are some volunteers to put numerals or letters of the alphabet on the dice so that we can create sets to donate to the Kids in Need/Childcare/Kindergartens in our community.

Along the same lines we have plenty of timber in stock ready to start the production of wooden toy trucks that we will once again donate to

Kids in Need/Childcare/Kindergartens …..the component parts are all made from offcuts and are simple to make with the finished parts being very simple to assemble……once again we are looking for volunteers who want to be involved in this very worthwhile project including making the parts for the trucks and assembling them.

Neale & Brian in the Engineering/metalworking section are busy doing odd jobs and would like any assistance you can provide so if you want to sharpen up your metalwork skills come on in and join them.

Likewise Eric in the Hobby Shop has a number of very interesting projects underway and pending so if you’ve always wanted to try your hand at something like for instance a model boat or plane or making tiny windows for a dolls house, then come along and get into it.

We also have a steady stream of jobs coming through the door from people in our community who want small repairs to a myriad of different things for which they give a small donation to our coffers….these jobs are very important as they help us pay our rent, keep the lights on (literally) and the smoko room stocked with tea & coffee.

If in your retirement you are so busy you can only spare a few hours a week that’s fine come along we’re open Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 1pm.

These are example of the sort of jobs that we would like you all to be participating in…..REMEMBER as a member, the Shed is there for you to use, either to get involved in something for the community as per the above or for your own pet project……AND also to help us on projects that pay the rent.
