Successful Working Bee!

Quick update for you…..we had about 22 members turn up for the working bee on Wednesday and it was a resounding success, check out the photo.

About half the crew cleaned up the timber store in the half round barn and that is looking considerably tidier than it was and there is now room for the items that Carters have donated to us. The other half dismantled and de-nailed a pile of packing crates that had been donated to us with a good percentage of the timber from those crates being recycled into our timber store for later use on projects.

The morning tea spread put on by the Shed was consumed with great gusto and the sausage rolls were given particular attention and I think everyone who attended enjoyed the participation and the banter.

A big thank you to all those that helped out at the working bee and a special thanks to Barry Harding for managing the clean-up of the barn.

A couple of housekeeping things:

Neale in the Engineering section has two small repair jobs that they have completed for members…ones a tow bar alteration ($30) and the others a repair to a handle on a pot lid ($10). Unfortunately in their excitement at receiving the jobs Neale and Co didn’t get contact details for the two members requesting the work….so if they belong to you please call in and collect them.

Second thing is we have mislaid the brass padlock that locks the lids on the Waste Management bin that sits in the yard….it was sitting on the side of the bin mid-morning on Wednesday but seems to have disappeared. If anyone has put it in a safe place can you let me know please. This is the second one that’s mysteriously disappeared on us.

Mike Brace is still looking for a couple more members to help organise social events for the membership, if you can help please contact Mike at bracec2003@yahoo.com

The Committee would also like to thank Les Walsh (coordinator) and the members who have volunteered to organise and man the MenzShed Trash & Treasure stand on the second Sunday of each month (that’s this Sunday), this will be a great way to create a bit more income for the Shed and also clear out our surplus tools & machinery.
