Notice of AGM and Update
Hi All
Please find attached Notice of the pending AGM to be held on Saturday 13th September at 11am followed by Sausage Rolls (how good is that!!) & Tea/Coffee and a MenzShed NZ Newsletter.
On other matters…..A reminder that the monthly BBQ will be on the 29th August at Midday come along and enjoy a sausage & a beer.
The Sunday before last saw our Shed host about 30 members of The Zephyr Car Club for a morning tea stop on their tour around Cambridge. Our thanks to our members and their wives who supplied the food and organised the morning tea, we appreciate their efforts…..they managed to raise $140+ which has gone towards funding the monthly BBQ and other social activity.
We are also on the lookout for an extension ladder that will reach approx 6 metres so that we can effect some repairs to the roof of the ½ round barn if anyone has a ladder could they please either drop it off at the Shed or let me know and we will arrange it’s pickup.
On the subject of the ½ round barn, our sincere thanks go to Curin Contractors Ltd 380 Norwegian Road Cambridge, who have donated 2 truckloads of pit sand to be spread over the existing concrete floor in the Barn as a base for the new concrete floor which will be laid later this month……Paul Garland is also donating his time and machinery and will spread the sand for us…many thanks (again) Paul you have been very generous. The plan is to get the new floor down and then do some repairs to the shell of the barn including a set of double doors at the front and a set of timber access doors in the north side corner. This will then become our lockable timber & steel store and another work area should we need it.
We still have jobs coming through the door to be done by members willing to put a bit of time in….as examples we have some small timber trikes that need to be done up and also a large toy John Deere (pedal) tractor that needs to be repainted, plus we also have the material onsite to build a small Verandah (to match the one at the back) to be constructed over the main entry door of the Shed to give some form of weather protection …if you think that you can help with any of those jobs then please feel free to come in and volunteer by seeing Craig and/or the Duty Manager.
On the subject of the Duty Manager we have changed the colour of their Hi Vis vest. He will now be recognisable as he will be the only one wearing a Blue vest. This came about as we had a donation of a large number of the orange Hi Vis Vests (same colour as the DM was wearing) and we felt rather than turn then down we would make the change to the Duty Managers attire.
We also have two upcoming “naming ceremonies” for specific machines in the workshop, being the big Bandsaw & the new Thicknesser. A couple of local companies have donated funds to go towards the purchase of these two machines and in return we will attach a naming plaque to each of the machines in separate ceremonies & photo ops (on separate days) and there will be free morning tea for those that turn up…..I am just firming up dates for those two events and will let you know as soon as the dates are fixed, we need to ensure we get a good representation of our membership at each ceremony for these donors.
Stay safe and healthy and remember to put the AGM in your diary as we need to get a 50% turnout of members…plus put the BBQ in too.
Regards
